Description: The Ministry of First Nations and Métis Relations works to improve the social and economic outcomes of First Nations and Métis people and northerners. With First Nations and Métis people making up 15% of the overall population and 85% of the northern population, this Ministry provides the Government with a focused approach to common issues and opportunities. The Ministry strengthens relationships between First Nations and non-First Nations people in the spirit of the Treaties, and provides Government oversight to ensure ministries effectively consult First Nations and Métis peoples on provincial legislation, policies, permits and other activities that may impact their legal rights and their interests. It also ensures that the Province's commitments, with respect to lands and resources, are fulfilled.
